Charitable Activities

The group has formed the B J Charitable Trust, named after the late Seth Bhagwandas Agrawal. This trust provides financial assistance to meritorious students, medical treatment to underprivileged patients and other social welfare activities. The trust has developed gardens and schools for public use.

Realizing the need to ease the adversities faced by victims of natural calamities, we have made generous donations every time an untoward incident has taken place in India. We also send medicines to the victims of such calamities and have been ready and willing to help in all such instances which required our active participation in terms of man hours or other at a time of crisis.

We have built or renovated several Community halls in the vicinity of hospitals. These community halls are used by relatives of poor patients admitted in the hospitals especially government run hospitals who travel to these cities for free treatment. These relatives are provided with highly subsidized and clean accommodation and facilities. Subsidized meals that are cooked in hygienic conditions are provided to these relatives while they care for the patient.

One such project is at JJ Hospital in Mumbai, one of the largest government hospitals in the city. Here accommodation is provided at Rs 25 / day for 2 family members. Food (3 meals and tea) is provided at Rs 25/day. The subsidy amount is borne by the trust. Last year about 2300 people each month have benefited from this scheme. A similar project is also implemented this year at St George Hospital in Mumbai. Each month about 1250 people are utilizing this facility.
